This is too good to be true Elise Kavanagh channelling her inner Martha Stewart Yes Elise Kavanagh trying to rip a demon s heart out Yes A demon s chest exploding in a geyser of hot and sulfurous blood Yes, yes, yes This is one hell of a prequel to the Descent series A short story it may be but it is absolutely brilliant and I enjoyed it as much as any other instalment in the series This is pure, concentrated Descent Cool, entertaining, dark, emotional, gruesome and so much fun to read, especially if you ve already been through the rest of the series There is lots of insight into James Elise s relationship before Death s Hand and a few glimpses of the future that awaits them Brilliant I tell you A must read for fans of the series

I think the funniest thing IN THE WORLD is Elise trying to pull off the housewife thing She is seriously not cut out for baking and playing nice Which works well when she s kicking demon ass but is unnerving when she s attempting to go undercover as James s wife.Hold on I m imagining the penetrating stare coming from a lady wearing oven mitts right now shudders As short as it is, this story packs a lot of wallop Besides the whole housewife Elise thing, we get a hint at the sad, powerful love that Elise holds for James and how it affects her when her barriers are down Her ability to compartmentalize her feelings and do what she needs to do to keep the world safe is astounding And a little frightening.Fans of the series won t want to miss this short story It s bloody, dark, and a little sad And James gets his ass slapped Which is HILARIOUS when it s Elise doing the slapping Kelly Reading the Paranormal

I really enjoyed this book I loved the characters and figuring out each characters role and figuring out what their story is Its been a while since I read it, so without mistaking certain details I don t want to get into too much detail But I enjoyed the main character, shes got mystery, shes spunky, strong and capable She s not sure of some things in her life, but she starts to come into her own in Deadly Hearts I look forward to the next installment, whenever I get around to it The other characters are interesting, and there are a few potentials for male leads, only time will tell which one takes the role of the male lead and the friend

Elise and James pose as a normal couple with a haunted house in order to catch a demon that has possessed a charlatan exorcist And apparently Elise doesn t bakeever Cookies anyone I picked up this short story, which is related to the Descent series, without having read any of the other books I have a couple of them on my Kindle but just haven t gotten around to reading them yet I was looking for a Valentine s Day read and saw this one I really liked the cover and decided to give it a whirl I actually liked the story even though I wasn t familiar with the world or characters of this series I didn t feel lost at all There were a couple of references in the book that I did wonder about and probably would have appreciated if I read the other books first, but I didn t feel I was missing anything major The story flowed well, kept me guessing, and made want to read of this world. What I learned from this companion short story considering I m not familiar with this series Elise is kick ass and James iswell, not That doesn t mean he is meek He is the witchy partner in this duo and provides the magic to Elise s demon hunting muscle I m sure there is to it than that but hey, it was just a short story I need time to get to know this pair a little better No romance here, move along folks but there is something going on between those two Elise seems to have some emotional demons of her own she is dealing with The Valentine s Day connection to this story is pretty loose, but I expected that I should expect some gory, bloody moments in the books for this series I have no idea what the book blurb means about James s butt needing to be slapped and how this story did that I guess that is one of the things that went over my head because I haven t read the other books yet Don t accept home baked goods from Elise though now I m jonesing for the recipe for Nutella cookies I want to read of this series or at least the author s other series, which is probably my style, but I m definitely giving this one a shot.Word Count approx 9,000Kindle locations 465 story text ends at 95% ePub length 27 pgs story text ends on pg 26 Print length 30 pgs estimate No Table of ContentsSide Note I love the cover art on Reine s books.that is all.

I have been a fan of Sara s for quite some time and really enjoy her writing style and this short story is no exception I would recommend reading the Descent series first before reading this book but it is not essential as you can still pick up most of the story though some comments may elude you This is very much a tongue in cheek style of Valentine s Day Romance with very little romance apart from a Stepford Wife kind of feel to it with Elise baking cookies for James If you have read her other books you know that there has to be a secret agenda as Elise is not your average cookie baking mom It was such a light fun read and a great way to unwind by turning the pages.

  6. Amanda says:

This was a nice little bit of Elise and James story It kind of made me mad at the same time, because James is obviously hiding something big and it makes me sad that they obviously love each other, but are holding back for some reason This was a nice little sliver of information non the less.

This was a really cute little short story about James and Elise You get a little additional glimpse into their life before Death s Hand I gobble up all James and Elise sexual tension and romantic drama, so this was a great little extra
