clear that if you want something in life, you have to DO something to get it Or to get rid of it as the case may be True, actions start with thoughts and I think that s where I should have beenclear in my prior write up.So, a couple of things of note Reducing my rating for the book from three stars to one The book should have addressed the DO part of life as well but the writers areinterested in a magical world universe view and they overlook the action part of getting what you want in life The mentor who first recommended this book to me had done a lot of good for me in other areas Our lives have since diverged and we are no longer in touch It wasn t because of this book, per se Nevertheless, I m glad I don t have to feel like I have to rebut this with him or discuss similar things Regardless of what you read, sift it There are assertions in nearly every tome which are good and others which are not so worthwhile Stay critical, my friends Wag Originally written February, 2008.I only read this book at the suggestion of a mentor When I went and picked it up, I didn t read the back cover of it, or the subtitles or anything else, so when I got home and saw the reference to Abraham on the front cover, I was very skeptical about it I didn t want to get sucked into a book of a religious bent.Turns out, it was even weirder than that Don t stop here, though Read on The book was good at reminding you that your mind is extremely powerful What you think about is pretty much what you ll have in your life Go read Napoleon Hill s, Think and Grow Rich, along with James Allen s, As a Man Thinketh, among others, of course Short and sweet of it is, if you think positively, positive things will happen to you What the book doesn t tell you is that when negative things happen to you, your positive attitude can turn those things into far less tragic events Other books will make thisclear. Also, the book goes too far in suggesting that EVERYTHING that happens to you is a result of the power of your own mind For example, if you had been thinking positively, you wouldn t have been whacked by that crazy driver who just rear ended you Or that tornado would have wiped out your neighbor s house and left yours alone if you had only just been positively attuned to the universe To that kind of thing, I cry, Baloney Life does have elements beyond even our powerful minds to control Attraction, posits the position that if only everyone in the world were to think properly, we d be in a Utopia Of course, life would be better, no doubt, but there are things which are still beyond our power.I do believe that the mind has great power I do believe we are all connected in unexplainable ways I do not believe that there are mystical beings collectively called, Abraham, who can commune through a woman who is in a trance Nevertheless, the book has good stuff in there too, along with the crap. The mind is capable of a lot, including how your body lives, how you present yourself to other people, etc When you have a positive train of thought, you will have better health, better prosperity and better life in general That simply is true and cannot be denied.Do you ever see people who are always having horrible tragedy all the time It s because their thoughts are out of whack with what they really want They have worse health, worse relationships, they seem to attract all kinds of negativity in their lives and simply cannot seem to get out of the rut Some of these people are very nice people, too They just have a victim mentality and sure nuff, they become victims to a life that steamrollers them into the ground Unnecessarily, I must add.Worst of all, they never seem to be able to get themselves out of that rut of constant negativity Until they succeed at changing their thought processes, they will continually have these kinds of problems. The value of this book is in promoting the idea that you havecontrol over your life than you think Be careful of the mysticism, though I would like nothing better than to have the weather in my locale be 100% ideal all the time but you know what It ain t gonna happen I will, however, be able to have have good relationships with my friends and neighbors should I choose to do so Assuming they are of like mind, of course.I do recommend this book However, I also suggest you read it with a critical eye to the good things which are here and selectively dismiss the baloney Wag

This book literally changed my life The first part was a little airy fariy to me but after getting into the bulk of the book, you learn how to re think of what you want to attract into your life Thoughts are powerful and just as easily as you can attract prosperity, happiness, and love, you can attract just the opposite into you life as well.It s not a book that just tells you to think happy thoughts and all will be well, it goes deeper than that, and I go back and read sections of it over This book literally changed my life The first part was a little airy fariy to me but after getting into the bulk of the book, you learn how to re think of what you want to attract into your life Thoughts are powerful and just as easily as you can attract prosperity, happiness, and love, you can attract just the opposite into you life as well.It s not a book that just tells you to think happy thoughts and all will be well, it goes deeper than that, and I go back and read sections of it over and over again when I feel as if I may be taking a downward spiral.I would recommend it to anyone

source that out lined the major laws of the universe From what I understand there are only a few All the other laws are overtones and sub harmonics to these three, the trilogy As to the source of this information, it comes from a group of individuals who exist at a slightly higher vibrational rate This group collectively calls itself Abraham One of the Co authors Esther Hicks goes into a slight trance ah la Seth and acts as a portal for this information to come through The book s purpose is to explain The 3 main laws of the Universe They are the Law of attraction, the Law of deliberate creation, and the Law of allowing From what the book states, these Laws apply to all beings that exist Whatever they look like, and whatever plane of nature they find themselves on If I m to understand the ideals expressed, these Laws also apply to what we call God The God that created the known Universe gets back its creative expression, based on these 3 Laws, because it was these Laws that it used to bring itself into existence. There are sections in the text that talk about your personal guidance system, and that is quite simply your emotions When you feel any negative emotion that means you are out of alignment with your larger self Soul When you feel positive emotions it means you are inline with your true self This is what is meant when Jesus said, I and my father are one The alignment, a sense of well being, feeling groovy, one with the flow, good health, and the host of other euphemisms that convey the concept that describes this union.Every page of this book brought a wealth of knowledge to my being I found myself sneaking back to the book just to re experience the high of what each page had to offer The style of the text is as a series of questions and answers The authors propose the questions and the guides provide the interpretations One common theme that the guides reintegrate regularly is that anything that comes into your experience does so only by way of the Law of attraction As a person thinks about something, a type of magnetic energy literally pulls that event into their experience, it makes no difference whether you desire it or not Theyou think about it, themagnetic energy you generate, and the stronger the pull Quite simply if you don t want it, don t think about it The book gives a number of examples of this Law in action One example was that of a robber wanting to rob some body This wanting, or thinking about this event activated the Law of attraction to bring about this event to the robber At the same time another person who might feel that they are a victim of fate and think they deserve to be victimize are also sending out thoughts to attractof how they feel expecting to be victimize The Law of attraction gives both people what they are thinking and expecting When the parties coincidentally meet, their collective prophecies are fulfilled I understand the foundation of the ideals expressed, that the victim brought about their circumstances, but how would you explain this concept to someone who has been raped I m sure you can think of a number of other examples, as to how this powerful Law seems to answer a lot of questions about events good or bad that seem to magically happen to people The book then goes on to talk about the science of deliberate creation This just means that now that you know the mechanics of the first Law, you can now create with deliberate intent, instead of by default When these Laws are utilized by a focused mind earth shattering events are the results Be they the generation of new religions, or the manifestation of the horrors of a world war, to the sublimely maniacal heavy metal guitar riffs of Eddy Van Halen The Laws works the same for anybody without exception The authors then goes on to discuss the last Law in the trilogy of the Laws In conjunction with the first 2 Laws, there is a 3rd companion, and that is the Law of allowing It is one thing to want something, and set up the vibrations to attract the event, its another to allow the event to manifest in your life If you feel unworthy and think you don t deserve something, all the daydreaming and craving won t bring the event into your life, because you are not allowing it to enter Another name for this is self sabotage A whole chapter is given to this concept, because of its importance This book is a good read, because it further opens the eyes of the initiate, as well as the neophyte What is really taking place as you read this book is that you are being reminded of what you already know As Plato said all learning is remembering Ask yourself, what events are you unconsciously creating

This book is written in the dialectic style of Socrates From the peaceful slumber of a meditative state, Esther becomes in touch with I dare say possessed by the numinous figure of Abraham, the shepherd of her soul Her husband Jerry is ecstatic He uses his possessed wife as a channel through which Abraham shall answer the riddles of the universe Quite the arrangement for a book about the main tenet of New Thought philosophy the Law of Attraction. The Socratic method presupposes an argument This book is written in the dialectic style of Socrates From the peaceful slumber of a meditative state, Esther becomes in touch with I dare say possessed by the numinous figure of Abraham, the shepherd of her soul Her husband Jerry is ecstatic He uses his possessed wife as a channel through which Abraham shall answer the riddles of the universe Quite the arrangement for a book about the main tenet of New Thought philosophy the Law of Attraction. The Socratic method presupposes an argument Jerry asks questions, and Abraham posits his three undisputed Universal Laws The Law of Attraction The Science of Deliberate Creation The Art of Allowing Here s a summary You attract the essence of what you re thinking and feeling If you think positive, you attract positive If you think negative, you attract negative If you think a lot about something, you are bound to have achieve that something Every circumstance in your life you invite through your thoughts even people Those with similar vibrations thoughts, feelings, interests, ambitions, etc attract one anotherTo better understand the Law of Attraction, see yourself as a magnet attracting unto you the essence of that which you are thinking and feeling And so, if you are feeling fat, you cannot attract thin If you feel poor, you cannot attract prosperity, and so on It defies LawThe second Law, the Science of Deliberate Creation, says That which I give thought to and that which I believe or expect is. In short, you get what you are thinking about, whether you want it or not One of the things I liked about this book is the dialogic style The conversation between Jerry and Abraham sweeps the reader off into a philosophic storyline that has a distancing effect In other words, what Jerry and Esther preach is framed within their discussion with Abraham This style has two setbacks though One, many times I became bored because a lot of information is unduly repeated Two, dialogue diction inhibits the use of colorful literary language.Anyway, for me, the Law of Attraction belongs to the tried and true category Reading this book was a way to reiterate what I already know about this Law that it works, and that the best way to go about utilizing it is through daily meditation and affirmation and visualization.Recommended

Ignore any negative reviews about this book and its message If you don t like Ouija boards then pass over that section like I did For the rest of the information contained in this material, your doing yourself a major disservice for not reading and comprehending this knowledge.Once you read it, you ll know the truth it contains Think about all those experiences you ve had in life that YOU attracted into it Did you not think you were magnetic in nature I remember those little tiny messages I Ignore any negative reviews about this book and its message If you don t like Ouija boards then pass over that section like I did For the rest of the information contained in this material, your doing yourself a major disservice for not reading and comprehending this knowledge.Once you read it, you ll know the truth it contains Think about all those experiences you ve had in life that YOU attracted into it Did you not think you were magnetic in nature I remember those little tiny messages I once gave myself which I totally erase from my thoughts today, such as I m having such good luck this week, next week will be a bummer because I have to repay for the good with bad You know, we ve all done similar little tactics, and thinking back on them, they were accurate because We created them We really have to work on retraining our intentions, cause even those little thoughts manifest Without this book, you may have found this out already, but with it, you will be guided so thoroughly, you can t help to eliminate these negative intentions and replace them with positive thoughts that WILL change your life Finally, we have the hidden message, to reprogram our thoughts, we are asked to become selfish , yes it s true Demand what we want, totally eliminate any thought on what we don t want, it will then fall away from us In the end it isn t selfish means after all We each have a good life, and the world becomes better, so in the long run, was that really selfish Our free will means freeing up our willingness Be willing to be selfish, be free with it, intent your demand for happiness and joy, see it, feel it, breathe it, then you receive it And then get on here and tell us how it worked for you, and be a guide for others to follow these truths Being selfish will be redefined, it isn t negative after all Oh and remember, if your a magnet and I m a magnet, then we are also attracting to each other So if your day becomes great and your happy, your feeding the energy field of your neighbor with happy energies too Nope, that sure isn t being selfish after all, by ways we once defined selfishness

I ran out of time to finish this book, but I did get about halfway through before it became overdue Once you get past the initial weirdness into the QA part, it does get interesting, if repetitive I completely believe in the power of thought and attitude to alter our perception of reality Under certain conditions, I somewhat believe in their assertion that thought can actually alter reality I have a very hard time believing their assertion that absolutely everything in your life w I ran out of time to finish this book, but I did get about halfway through before it became overdue Once you get past the initial weirdness into the QA part, it does get interesting, if repetitive I completely believe in the power of thought and attitude to alter our perception of reality Under certain conditions, I somewhat believe in their assertion that thought can actually alter reality I have a very hard time believing their assertion that absolutely everything in your life was drawn to you, both good bad Like attracts like, yes, but I take issue with the implication that everything that happens in our lives is our fault I mean, really, the jerk who runs the red light at 50 mph and slams into the minivan totally has brought an accident into his life, but the three year old in the car seat can t possibly have attracted the crash It s too blame the victim for me.Despite some fantastic quotes I was moved to copy and show other people, thetime passes, thethe memory of this book irritates me Since reading it, I ve been reading the blog of Bill Harris, founder of Centerpointe the Holosync meditation technology He s been talking about the different stages of development how ways of thinking such as are featured in this book are pre conventional i.e magical and put the self at the center of the universe Thought without corresponding action, in other words So in the end, I m revising my rating and recommending skipping this book in favor of others written by deeper thinkers Deepak Chopra, maybe, or the Law of Attraction by Michael Losier similar title, different book.My original review I m only about a quarter of the way through this book so far, and it s just now starting to get to the good stuff The whole beginning iswell, hmout there, to say the least The Law of Attraction basically is what the book DVD The Secret is based upon namely that your thoughts affect your reality and that what you focus your attention on for good or for ill is what you ll getof This premise rings very true for me in most respects, so I m glad I stuck it out through the channeling the spirits phase of the book But I read another version of this a while backand it s on my bookshelves at homeand I can t think of the author s right now, but the title is the same or similar Well, the main thing is that the other book had less crazy stuff but also less detail, so it s probably helpful to read both

The seeking movement of the ego wanting, dukkha, desire is the root of suffering in several spiritual traditions Here it s celebrated as the source by which we can manifest desired things I couldn t handle the disappointment of doing the visualizations with zero payoff I was just feeding the mind monster, being lost in thought instead of being present I listened to several of these CD s before I gave up Channeled works tends to be bologna, but I must admit this was entertaining.

great comments from other ex followers These teachings do seem great and feel great at first, but even NOTE, this is an abbreviated version of my too lengthy original review In the original, I get very specific about the negative consequences of this material So if you re struggling with this ideology or starting to question things, please go to my blog for the full version Responsible Spirituality there s a link on my profile or just google it The original review is posted there, plus great comments from other ex followers These teachings do seem great and feel great at first, but eventually I found them harmful, not helpful A word to the wise, if something seems too good to be true IT IS.I was thoroughly committed to these teachings for 5 years It took me on an emotional high I felt that my life was amazing and felt I knew the secrets of the universe This is mainly what this book does tells you all good news and teaches you to manipulate your mood so you feel good about everything and deny anything negative. That s why it has all the rave reviews Drugs would get rave reviews too if we didn t know any better So, does it work It is a dangerous mix of helpful and harmful information I know that I felt better andempowered than ever, which tends to happen when you buy into a philosophy that says you are all powerful, there is never any reason to feel bad, and you must feel good to get everything you want Lies can lead to positive change, can they not The A H material does promote self worth, self efficacy, a better outlook, considering what you want in life, etc. Some of the results I experienced were genuine shifts because of myexpanded thinking plus being in better touch with myself and believing in myself But a lot of the results were emotional hype, temporary, ultimately unhelpful, and not based in truth. There are so many other avenues to an improved life, and I strongly recommend those that are not rife with falsehoods like the ones sprinkled liberally throughout the Abraham Hicks ideology.First of all, this information is being channeled from an unknown source Abers don t care, they are fiercely in love with Abraham and think that they know everything they need to know by listening to beautiful words that fill them with hope and love and excitement Now that I am no longer brainwashed, I can t believe how naive I was Emotions can be manipulated Feeling good and right about something is not the highest level of truth or wisdom.Intense positive emotion can have a positive domino effect in your life for awhile, but it doesn t mean the idea that made you feel good was pure truth and goodness. Please take care of where information is coming from Don t romanticize entities as perfect, all knowing, or all loving Only God is those things, so unless you foolishly believe Abraham is God, then take care to keep your wits about you just as you would if a charismatic human being was preaching to you So who is Abraham Abraham may describe himself as something like leading edge, nonphysical group consciousness But really, who is Abraham An astral entity Period He can get away with saying whatever he wants because most people cannot even begin to verify the information It s all just vague and nice sounding, and people eat it up because they don t know any better Channeled does not actually mean pure or honest or better or without an agenda It simply means channeled As for so called manifesting, during my Abrahaze I was over the moon to find the perfect item in a store, get a great parking space, find a nice apartment, have an inspiring conversation with a stranger, or come across a solution to some problem I d been having I was psyched to experience literally ANY synchronicity or manifestation as they were all signs of my specially cultivated point of attraction After my Abrahaze, I realized that this is just normal life Synchronicity happened before and still happens now, solutions present themselves, people ask questions and the answers show up, just without the special story behind it When you attach magical thinking and look for meaning in every experience, you find meaning whether it s there or not It reminds me of that time my family member had a psychotic episode and was finding secret meaning encoded in every event and item That s what Abraham Hicks taught me to do is see normal life through a special lens of magic and manifestation. When I finally stopped to look around, however, my life was just NOT any different from anyone else s I became practiced in thinking and feeling in a different way, but the life that is promised never came to be My inner life was pumped up, but my outer life remained a mixed bag of manifestations, and was utterly comparable to everyone else s life If these teachings were presented as an emotional experience instead of a way to worldly success then well, it sure wouldn t have a huge following, but it would behonest Instead it caused me problems.Problems included denial and delusion, losing all sense of how to properly solve problems in my life, numbing negative emotions, feeling special and superior, isolation from others, turning off critical thinking, and losing my proper intuitive guidance. These teachings appeal to those of us who really, really, really, really want to believe that the world works this way short cuts, effortlessness, everything you could ever want, a perfect world, no pain, no reason to ever feel bad This book is full of sweet lies made to sound like the deepest wisdom and made to resonate with the part of us that wants it to be so Believing harder does not make it so Having a large, brainwashed fan base also does not make it so.As for life after A H, suffice it to say that the truth is always better than lies in the end, and my life has improved on the inside AND the outside The inner tension from living in such an unnatural state has lifted I don t manipulate my mood or dream up fantasies and mistake it for accomplishment My personal evolution is faster andauthentic without the distorted spiritual beliefs And I am not handicapping my success in life by over emphasizing emotional energy in a world that is so muchthan that. These teachings are deceptive and illusory You will feel all powerful and tapped into great wisdom, but you will beconfused than ever.I doubt that the most successful people in the world are bothering with the sort of content in these books In fact I believe that they have reinforced completely different circuits inside themselves than those that A H will help you reinforce A H reinforces circuits that will make you LESS effective, not .And for anyone reading this who is currently a committed Aber, if reading this makes you feel bad, it is not because you re separating yourself from the knowledge of your inner being, it s because sometimes the truth just doesn t feel good You are living on Earth, after all, not in heaven.Fordiscussion,
