All liqueurs have for their foundation: alcohol, sugar and water.

Some are made by cold compounding, mixing flavours with neutral alcohol and sugar, followed by filtration.

Others such as: spirit of oranges, coffee and rum liqueurs can involve distillation in a liqueur pot still.

There are many recipes in the old distillation handbooks, or if purchasing ingredients from a flavour company they may recommend a formula.
